RPK-74 is a Soviet/Russian light machine gun designed in the late 1970s as a derivative of the AK-74 assault rifle. It was developed to provide automatic firepower and support for infantry units. The RPK-74 uses the same 5.45×39mm ammunition as the AK-74 rifle but has a higher rate of fire and a longer barrel, which gives it greater accuracy and range. It has a unique bipod design, with a much wider stance than most other bipods, making it more stable. The RPK-74 also has a magazine capacity of 45 rounds, compared to the 30-round magazine of the AK-74. It was widely used by Soviet and Russian infantry units, as well as being exported to various countries around the world, including India and China. The RPK-74 remains in service with Russian and various other military forces to this day.
